Hector Louis Berlioz was born in France on December 11, 1803 and died on March 8, 1869. He was a Romantic composer best known for the Symphonie fantastique which was first performed in 1830. It is widely regarded as one of the most important and representative pieces of the early Romantic period, and is still very popular with symphonic audiences worldwide.
